What to know about Rangers Spring Training

Rangers pitchers and catchers will report to Surprise, Ariz., this month for the start of Spring Training, and the club hopes to start its first season on the other side of a full-scale rebuild that has been going on for three seasons. 

With a revamped rotation and the second year of an offense driven by and , Texas will enter camp full steam ahead.

Here are some questions about Spring Training that Texas fans may have:

When is the first workout for pitchers and catchers?
Rangers pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on Feb. 15.

What is the date of the first full-squad workout?
Feb. 20

Where is the team’s facility?
Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Ariz., is the Spring Training home of both the Rangers and the Royals. The facility is about 25 miles northwest of Phoenix.

Who are some new faces fans should know?
The starting pitching trio of , and , along with rotation candidate , were Texas' key offseason additions.

Who are some of the top prospects invited to Major League camp?
Fourteen of the Rangers’ Top 30 prospects in the MLB Pipeline rankings will appear in camp. Top prospect Josh Jung is expected to be the club’s Opening Day third baseman and leads the pack. Others include pitchers Jack Leiter (No. 2), Kumar Rocker (No. 8), Antoine Kelly (No. 13), Avery Weems (No. 23), Marc Church (No. 28) and Cody Bradford (No. 30); second baseman Justin Foscue (No. 5); and outfielder Evan Carter (No. 3).

There’s also the group added to the 40-man roster to avoid the Rule 5 Draft: infielders Luisangel Acuña (No. 7) and Jonathan Ornelas (No. 21); infielder/outfielder Dustin Harris (No. 9); and right-handed pitchers Owen White (No. 4), Cole Winn (No. 10) and Zak Kent (No. 25).

Which players will be participating in the World Baseball Classic?
Two Rangers pitchers will be playing in the World Baseball Classic: Eovaldi for Team USA and Martín Pérez for Team Venezuela.

When is the team’s first Cactus League game? What are the other notable spring games?
The Rangers' first Cactus League game is on Feb. 24 against the Royals at Surprise Stadium at 2:05 p.m. CT. 

Texas will face San Francisco in Surprise on March 3, which will be the first time manager Bruce Bochy will face his former team.

Will the games be televised?
The Rangers will have only four games broadcast on Bally Sports Southwest or BSSW+: March 20 against the Guardians, March 23 against the A’s, March 25 against the Padres and March 27 against the Royals. All other games will be available audio only on 105.3 The Fan or via webcast on rangers.com.

When is the club’s last game in Arizona?
The Rangers’ final Cactus League game is on March 25 against the Padres at Surprise Stadium.

Will there be any additional exhibitions before the regular season? 
The Rangers will face the Royals in two exhibition games at Globe Life Field, March 27-28.

What are the details for Opening Day? 
The Rangers begin the regular season at 3:05 p.m. on March 30 against the Phillies at Globe Life Field. It’ll be the first time the Rangers have opened the season at home with fans since 2019, which was Globe Life Park’s final Opening Day.
