Kansas City, Missouri -- The Texas Rangers this evening announced that the club has traded right-handed pitcher Deck McGuire to the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations or a player to be named later.
McGuire was designated for assignment by Texas on Monday. He had been awarded to Texas on a waiver claim from Toronto on June 15 and was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. McGuire allowed 5 runs in 1.2 innings of relief on June 16 vs. Fresno in his lone appearance for the Express.
In the Toronto organization, he had no record and a 6.48 ERA in 4 relief appearances spanning 2 stints with the Blue Jays and was 4-2, 3.22 over 8 games/starts at Triple A Buffalo. McGuire has a 1-1 record with a 4.09 ERA (10 ER/22.0 IP) over 10 games/2 starts in the major leagues with the Reds (2017) and Blue Jays (2018).
