Choo ties MLB's longest on-base streak of 2018

ARLINGTON -- Rangers outfielder was hit by a pitch in his first plate appearance during Wednesday night's 5-2 win over the Padres. Choo was hit by San Diego starter , extending his on-base streak to 40 straight games.

That ties for the longest such streak in the Majors this season. of the Phillies also reached base in 40 straight from March 30 to May 19.

Choo's streak is the fourth longest in Rangers history for one season. The record is 46 by Julio Franco set in 1993. Otis Nixon reached base in 44 straight games in '95, and Toby Harrah had a streak of 41 consecutive in '85.

Choo finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, raising his average to .287 and is on an 11-game hitting streak. During the on-base streak, Choo is hitting .336 with a .468 on-base percentage and .572 slugging percentage. He also has nine home runs, 22 RBIs and 37 walks.
