ARLINGTON -- Shin-Soo Choo's on-base streak has come to a halt.
The Rangers' designated hitter went 0-for-4 and struck out twice in Saturday's 16-3 loss against the Indians, ending his on-base streak at 52 games.
Choo's streak was the longest in the Majors this season, and the longest in club history for a single season. It was also the longest streak in the Majors since 2007, when Kevin Millar reached base in 52 straight.
"The one thing we don't want to lose sight of is exactly what Choo has done over the course of the last 52 games," manager Jeff Banister said. "Obviously, tonight, battled through some at-bats, but incredible streak. Just an incredible feat for a tremendous player, an All-Star."
During the streak, Choo had a .337 batting average, .468 on-base percentage and a .588 slugging percentage, and he posted 13 home runs, 32 runs, 29 RBIs and 48 walks. The streak helped him earn the first All-Star selection of his 14-year career. Choo went 1-for-2 in the All-Star Game on Tuesday at Nationals Park and became the first position player from South Korea to make an appearance in the game.

"Everybody talked about it, especially Korea, every day, how many games on base," Choo said of the streak. "A lot of fans are sad tonight, but, you know, start again tomorrow."
In Choo's last at-bat in the eighth inning against reliever Dan Otero, he grounded into a force out play with a runner on first, which ended the streak. Willie Calhoun was thrown out at second and Choo reached first, but Ryan Rua replaced him as a pinch-runner.
Both of Choo's strikeouts on the night came against right-handed starter Carlos Carrasco.
"You just see a good pitcher tonight," Choo said. "Carrasco, he did a great job, and then last at-bat, I had confidence to get a hit there, but I saw really good pitchers and a good pitch, so I'm not complaining about that."
