Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers and the LG Twins of the KBO League (Korea Baseball Organization) today announced a multi-year partnership agreement beginning in 2018 that will encompass both baseball and business operations.
"The Rangers are happy to announce this partnership with the LG Twins," said team President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jon Daniels. "The Rangers organization has been very active in Pacific Rim scouting for a number of years, and this agreement gives us an even greater presence in Korea. The LG Twins have long been one of the KBO League's top organizations, and we look forward to working with them on a very productive relationship."
The teams will be exchanging ideas and working together in areas such as player development and scouting. LG Twins baseball personnel will be involved with the Rangers' spring training and instructional league programs in Arizona. There will also be interaction between the two organizations on the business operations side, and members of the LG Twins staff are expected to travel to Arlington to shadow Rangers employees on both the baseball and business areas.
"We are very pleased for this opportunity," said LG Twins President Moon-Bum Shim. "We are looking forward to learning a lot of valuable things from the Rangers organization through the agreement and hope this will be the first step towards a great relationship between the two teams."
The LG Twins, who are located in Seoul, are two-time Korean Series champions and have qualified for the KBO League playoffs in three of the last five years. The team plays its games at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. The KBO League, which was founded in 1982, currently has ten teams with a 144-game regular season schedule.
