"It's just not representative of what a championship roster is for a championship season," Scioscia said. "There's a lot of strategy in when you build a roster. I think a team that has consciously gotten those players that are versatile to help them through a Major League season loses that advantage when a roster can be 40, because the versatility isn't as much of a factor."
Meanwhile, Washington's active roster is at 36 -- 18 pitchers and 18 position players.
"I think every organization has their own decision to make on what they need to bring up and how many they need to bring up. There's more than just bodies that play into it. We brought what we thought we needed. It is nice that the organization accommodated us."
