Boston, Mass. — The Texas Rangers announced prior to Sunday’s series finale in Boston that left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel has been designated for assignment by the club.  Additionally, left-handed pitcher John King has been recalled from Round Rock (AAA) and he will be available in the bullpen for today’s game against the Red Sox.

Keuchel went 0-2 with a 12.60 ERA (14 ER/10.0 IP) in 2 games/starts for the Rangers after having his contract selected from Round Rock on August 27, including a loss in his last outing on Friday at Boston (4.2 IP, 7 R-ER).  Overall this season, Keuchel is a combined 2-9 with a 9.20 ERA (62 ER/60.2 IP) in 14 games/starts for Chicago-AL, Arizona, and Texas.

King has been a member of the taxi squad for the first three games of this road trip in Boston.  He has gone 1-3 with a 4.67 ERA (18 ER/34.2 IP) over 31 relief outings spanning two previous stints with Texas this season: Opening Day-July 5 and August 10-17.  His last outing with the Rangers came on August 17 vs. Oakland.  This is his third straight campaign with Major League action. He has spent the balance of 2022 with Round Rock, making 14 relief appearances, the last coming on Wednesday vs. Oklahoma City (1.2 IP, 36 pitches).

Following today’s transactions, the Rangers currently have 28 active players along with 39 players on the Major League roster and three players (Mitch Garver, Josh Sborz, Eli White) on the 60-day Injured List.
