Texas Rangers Opening Week and 2020 media information

Arlington, TX—After a delay of nearly four months due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Texas Rangers will play their first games ever at Globe Life Field this week.

The first baseball games ever at the Rangers new facility will be a two-game exhibition series with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 21-22, both 7:05 p.m. starts. Both games will be broadcast by FOX Sports Southwest, 105.3 The FAN and the Rangers English Radio Network, and 1270 AM and the Rangers Spanish Radio Network.

The Tuesday game will be carried live nationally by MLB Network utilizing the FSSW production.

Texas will open its 49th regular season in Arlington and first at Globe Life Field versus Colorado on Friday, July 24 at 7:05 p.m. The Rangers and Rockies will also meet on Saturday, July 25 at 3:05 p.m. and Sunday, July 26 at 1:35 p.m. The opening homestand concludes with a two-game series against the Arizona Diamondback, Tuesday, July 28 at 8:05 and Wednesday, July 29 at 3:05 p.m.

Due to health and safety requirements by Major League Baseball, no fans will be attending games during the opening homestand at Globe Life Field. With these precautions in mind, all public parking lots around Globe Life Field will be closed and tailgating will be prohibited prior or during all games.

Several areas of Texas Live!, which is located on the north side of Globe Life Field, are open to the public. Lot B parking will be available for Texas Live! customers only. For more information about Texas Live!, please contact Autumn Reo at [email protected].

With the health and safety requirements, a limited number of media outlets will be permitted to attend each Texas Rangers game at Globe Life Field in 2020. Please refer to the media regulations listed below for complete 2020 policies.

July, 21, 22, 24—Media gate opens at 3:05 p.m.

July 25—Media gate opens at 11:05 a.m.

July 26—Media gate opens at 9:35 a.m.

July 28—Media gate opens at 4:05 p.m.

July 29—Media gate opens at 11:05 a.m.

CREDENTIALS: Tier 3 daily credentials will be issued to news gathering sources through the Rangers on-line credential system. Due to the limited number of credentials allowed per game, no season credentials will be issued to any media outlets during the 2020 regular season. ALL DAILY CREDENTIALS WILL HAVE HEADSHOTS AND ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE. Requests for all regular season Rangers home games should be made 24 hours in advance and by Friday at 3:00 p.m. for a weekend game. All game credentials will be picked up at the Media Gate, which is located on Cowboys Way on the southwest corner of Globe Life Field. Credentials will be available at the Media Gate beginning approximately four hours prior to the start of the game. CREDENTIALS MUST BE VISIBLY WORN AT ALL TIMES. MEDIA GATE: The media gate at Globe Life Field is located at Southwest Gate on Cowboys Way across from Parking Lot R. The media gate opens four hours prior to games. All individuals with Tiers 2 and 3 credentials must undergo temperature screening before entering Globe Life Field and face coverings are required. Rangers security personnel scan all credentials and will inspect all media bags prior to allowing entrance into Globe Life Field. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL INDIVIDUALS WITH TIER 3 PASSES, INCLUDING BROADCAST CREWS FOR TELEVISION AND RADIO RIGHTSHOLDERS, MUST ENTER GLOBE LIFE FIELD THROUGH THE SOUTHWEST MEDIA GATE.

MEDIA PARKING: Media parking for Globe Life Field is in Tacoma Lot R, which is located on Stadium Drive and Sanford St. just south of Cowboys Way and Globe Life Field. Media with season credentials must enter Lot R thru the R1 entrance off Cowboys Way across from the media gate and park in the designated areas. The R1 entrance will generally open 30 minutes prior to the opening of the media gate. A season parking credential will access Lot R media parking.For daily media parking, please contact the Texas Rangers Communications Department, and your name will be left on the parking list with the R1 entrance attendant.

ACCESS TO BROADCAST CENTER AND PRESS BOX: Access to the upper concourse (broadcast center) and press box is available by the media elevator, which is located behind home plate and runs between the main concourse, upper concourse, and press box. On the main concourse, the media elevator is located across from the Media/Southwest Gate of Globe Life Field. Only persons with Tiers 2 and 3 credentials will be allowed on the elevator. There will be no access to the event level at any time for individuals with Tier 3 credentials in 2020.

PRESS BOX: The Globe Life Field press box is located above the upper concourse behind home plate. The press box can be accessed from the media elevator on the main concourse behind home plate. Only individuals with Tiers 2 and 3 credentials will be allowed access to the press box. No guests will be allowed in the press box at any time. Press box seating will be accommodated in accordance with appropriate health and safety protocols, including social distancing. The press box phone number is 817-533-1914

BROADCAST CENTER: All broadcast television and radio booths for home and visiting rightsholders are located in the broadcast center on the upper concourse behind home plate. The broadcast center can be accessed from the upper concourse or from the media elevator on the main concourse behind home plate. Only individuals with Tiers 2 and 3 credentials will be allowed access to the broadcast center. No guests will be allowed in the broadcast center at any time.

CREDENTIALS MUST BE DISPLAYED TO ENTER BOTH THE PRESS BOX AND BROADCAST CENTER LOCATIONS.

MEDIA WORKROOM: The media workroom is located on the press box level adjacent to the media elevator. Media workroom seating will be accommodated in accordance with appropriate health and safety protocols, including social distancing.

PRESS ROOM: The media dining room is located directly behind the press box seating area on the press box level. It is open for pregame meal service beginning 2.5 hours prior to game time to accredited Tiers 2 and 3 individuals only. In 2020 due to health and safety protocols, all food will be served individually packaged containers or bags, in takeout form. Media members are permitted to bring outside food into Globe Life Field, subject to screening upon entry. There is a $12.00 meal charge and only credit cards are accepted. In-game snacks will also be on sale in the press room..

CLUBHOUSES: Both clubhouses are located on the event level of Globe Life Field. The Rangers’ clubhouse is on the first base side, and the visiting clubhouse is on the third base side, and both are accessible by doors off the main event level. Clubhouse access will be allowed only to individuals with Tiers 1 and 2 credentials in 2020. There will be no clubhouse access at any time for individuals holding Tier 3 credentials. Tiers 1 and 2 credentials will be scanned at the clubhouse entrances prior to access.

FIELD: Only individuals with Tiers 1 and 2 access will be allowed onto the field at any time. There will be no field access for individuals holding Tier 3 credentials. FIELD ACCESS IS THROUGH THE FIELD TUNNEL ENTRANCE LOCATED ON THE THIRD BASE SIDE OF THE EVENT LEVEL NEXT TO THE VISITING CLUBHOUSE.

STILL PHOTOGRAPHERS ACCESS: For 2020, a limited number of still photographers will be allowed access to Globe Life Field on a daily basis with Tier 3 credentials. There will be no field or event level access for still photographers in 2020. The Rangers will make best efforts to assign still photographers with locations to provide views of the playing field. Still photographers must stay in their assigned positions with no roaming allowed due to health and safety protocols. There will be no separate digital photo room on the event level in 2020. Photographers who need a working area to transmit may utilize the media workroom on the press box level. .

INTERVIEW PROCEDURES: Due to health and safety protocols, all media interviews with Rangers and visiting team players and staff will be conducted virtually via zoom conferences. Rangers players and staff will utilize the interview room adjacent to the home clubhouse to conduct virtual interviews. Visiting teams will utilize virtual interview areas set up adjacent to the visiting clubhouse. There will be no access to the interview room at any time for individuals with Tier 3 credentials.
