Texas Rangers Announce 2020 Summer Camp Roster and Transactions

Arlington, Texas—The Texas Rangers today announced their initial roster for the 2020 Major League Baseball Summer Camp. Team Summer Camp rosters were submitted to Major League Baseball earlier today.

The first official workout is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 3. All of the Summer Camp’s players and staff will be primarily utilizing Globe Life Field at the beginning of camp. The Rangers will utilize the clubhouse and training facilities at Globe Life Park as their alternate training site.

The Rangers initial Summer Camp roster is comprised of 55 players, five under the 60-man limit. Of that number, 37 are on the club’s 40-man Major League roster (19 pitchers; 3 catchers; 7 infielders; 8 outfielder). There are 18 non-roster players (8 pitchers; 4 catchers; 4 infielders; 2 outfielders).

Of the 37 players on the MLB roster, 11 are on option to the minor leagues: pitchers Kolby Allard, Demarcus Evans, Taylor Hearn, Ariel Jurado, Joe Palumbo, and Tyler Phillips; infielders Sherten Apostel and Anderson Tejada; and outfielders Scott Heineman, Adolis Garcia, and Leody Taveras.

Manager Chris Woodward and the ten-man Major League coaching staff will be joined by seven minor league managers and coaches during the 2020 Summer Camp.

In addition, the Rangers today announced the following roster moves:

--OF Adolis Garcia optioned to Triple-A Nashville.

--LHP Brock Burke placed on 60-day injured list. Burke underwent ending left labrum debridement surgery on February 28,      

--INF Matt Duffy released from his minor league contract. Duffy was signed as a minor league free agent on January 30, 2020.
