TORONTO -- was still upset Friday, a day after he was ejected from Thursday night's game in Toronto.
Gomez was unhappy with a called third strike with the bases loaded in the sixth inning. The pitch was a borderline call that appeared to touch the inside part of the plate, according to Statcast™.
"I had bases loaded, it's going to be like 3-2," Gomez said. "With the bases loaded, what is the percentage that I'm going to get a strike? Like more than 90 percent. ... So you're taking money out of my pocket, you're taking the win from us."
The Rays held a 3-2 lead at the time of Gomez's strikeout. They later would go ahead 8-2 with a five-run seventh inning, but and combined to allow seven runs in the ninth inning, including a walk-off home run to .
"That at-bat maybe changes the game," Gomez said. "I have bases loaded and we're winning, we lost the game by one run. Maybe I drive in two of those runs and the game would be different, so you're taking one game away from us."
