Choi exits early with left knee soreness

TORONTO -- exited Friday night's 11-3 win over the Blue Jays with left knee soreness after hitting a leadoff double in the fifth inning.
The 27-year-old designated hitter hit a ground ball through the infield to right field, but as he rounded second, he appeared to injure his left knee. While the Blue Jays made a mound visit, the Rays' medical trainer came out to check on Choi. He remained in the game, but was later removed.
He was replaced by , who hit a two-run single to give the Rays a three-run lead in the sixth inning. Meadows came over as part of the package from Pittsburgh for right-hander Chris Archer at the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline.
Choi entered the game having hit .267 since Aug. 1 with an .895 OPS in 35 games. He was announced as day-to-day.
