Brendan Rodgers' hitting ability made him MLBPipeline.com's No. 1-rated prospect and the No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 Draft. The Rockies shortstop has lived up to expectations and is having his best season yet.
Prospect Team of the Week
Rodgers is batting a combined .364/.397/.636 with 16 homers in 66 games between high Class A and Double-A, ranking third in the Minors in hitting, slugging and OPS (1.032). He went 6-for-17 (.353) with three homers in four games last week to earn his fourth Prospect Team of the Week mention this season. No other prospect has been honored more than twice.

C: Jake Rogers, Buies Creek Astros (Class A Advanced)

Arguably the best defender available in the 2016 Draft, Rogers lasted until the third round because of questions about his bat. He posted a .642 OPS in three years at Tulane and a .718 OPS in his pro debut, but he's hitting .292/.377/.533 with 15 homers in 72 games between two Class A stops (and also has erased 46 percent of the basestealers who have tested him). Rogers has gone deep in five of his past nine games and has hit safely in his past 11, batting .435/.480/.804 in that span.
1B: Jordan Patterson, Albuquerque Isotopes (Triple-A)

4 G, .438/.500/1.188, 4 R, 7 H, 4 HR, 9 RBI, 2 BB, 4 SO
He may have had a short week because the Pacific Coast League took three days off for the big league and Triple-A All-Star Games, but that didn't stop Patterson for tying for the Minor League lead with four homers. He recorded back-to-back multihomer games on Thursday and Friday and is hitting .283/.353/.545 with 18 homers in 85 contests.

2B: Willie Calhoun, Oklahoma City Dodgers (Triple-A)
(Dodgers' No. 3 prospect/MLB No. 69)
4 G, .545/.688/.818, 2 R, 6 H, 3 2B, 5 RBI, 5 BB, 1 SO
Calhoun topped all Minor Leaguers with his .688 on-base percentage last week while reaching in 11 of his 16 plate appearances. (That doesn't count his 2-for-3 performance with two doubles in Wednesday's Triple-A All-Star Game.) He's now hitting .310/.358/.584 with 19 homers in 86 games, placing second in the Pacific Coast League in extra-base hits (47) and total bases (192) and fourth in homers and slugging.
3B: Juremi Profar, Frisco RoughRiders (Double-A)

4 G, .588/.611/.882, 3 R, 10 H, 2 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 BB, 2 SO
Jurickson's younger brother slumped for much of June but since has regained his stroke, posting three multihit games in four outings last week. He's batting .385/.455/.513 in July and .279/.313/.415 with nine homers in 77 games overall.

He got off to a slow start in Double-A following his promotion three weeks ago, but Rodgers is starting to heat up. He hit his first Double-A homer July 6 before leaving to participate in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game -- where he turned in the most dazzling defensive play -- then homered twice on Saturday and once more on Sunday. Rodgers is now batting .257/.333/.443 with four homers in 18 games as the Eastern League's second-youngest regular (age 20).

A 2016 second-round pick who jumped to high Class A for his first full pro season, Boldt has responded to the challenge by batting .286/.363/.400 with three homers and 11 steals in 81 games. He topped all Minor Leaguers with his .615 batting average last week, highlighted by three hits and two doubles on Saturday.

Norwood hit safely in all seven games last week and homered three times to move into second place in the Southern League with 15. Signed as a nondrafted free agent after hitting the homer that won the 2014 College World Series for Vanderbilt, he's batting .278/.358/.470 in Double-A.

The 2016 supplemental first-round choice has shaken off a rough April and has reached base safely in his past 18 games, including four multihit efforts and a pair of homers last week. A star high school running back who's more advanced than most two-sport athletes, Trammell is hitting .287/.359/.466 with eight homers and 26 steals in 86 games in low Class A.
LHP: Gregory Soto, West Michigan Whitecaps (Class A)

1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 GS, 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 11 SO, 0.67 WHIP
Soto, who didn't surrender a run in any of his first five starts this year, threw six shutout innings and struck out 11 on Friday. He's now 8-1 with a 2.44 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 81 innings, ranking third in the Midwest League in whiffs and fifth in both ERA and opponent average (.208).

RHP: Grayson Long, Mobile BayBears (Double-A)

Long snapped a streak of seven starts without a win by picking up two last week with a pair of scoreless six-inning outings. He ranks fifth in the Southern League with a .224 opponent average and sixth with a 2.76 ERA after arriving in Double-A in late April.

RP: Hansel Rodriguez, Fort Wayne TinCaps (Class A)

He faced nine batters last week and retired them all, five on strikeouts. Acquired by the Padres from the Blue Jays in the Melvin Upton Jr. trade last July, Rodriguez has been much more effective since switching to the bullpen in mid-June. He has a 2.66 ERA and 23/4 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings as a reliever versus a 5.62 ERA and 47/22 K/BB ratio in 49 2/3 innings as a starter.
