Outfielder Jesse Winker, the Reds' No. 3 prospect, hit two home runs Monday and Class A Advanced Bakersfield defeated High Desert, 14-8.
Winker, ranked No. 92 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, finished the game 2-for-4 with five RBIs and two walks. It was the second multi-homer game of his career.
Winker's two-homer game came on the heels of an eight-game hitting streak that ended Sunday. In 44 games this season, he is hitting .320/.417/.558 with nine home runs. He ranks third in the California League in both on-base percentage and OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage).
Right-hander Ben Lively, the Reds' No. 12 prospect, was the beneficiary of the Blaze's offensive outburst and picked up the victory. He allowed a season-high five runs on seven hits in seven innings. He struck out seven batters and walked none. He now leads all Minor Leaguers with nine wins this season.
