The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum's 2017 bobblehead series, presented by Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, continues in August with Reds Hall of Famer Dave Parker.
One of the most intimidating hitters of his era, outfielder Dave "The Cobra" Parker became the first major free agent acquisition in Reds history when he was signed by the club in December of 1983. Over the next four seasons, Parker was a fixture in the middle of the Reds lineup. The Reds Most Valuable Player each season from 1984-86, Parker was also a two-time NL All-Star, a two-time Sporting News All-Star and winner of two Silver Slugger Awards during his Reds career. Parker finished second in voting for league MVP honors in 1985 and ranked fifth in the MVP vote in 1986. For his Reds career, Parker averaged nearly 27 home runs and 108 RBI per season. A longtime resident of Cincinnati and currently an instructor at the P&G Cincinnati MLB Youth Academy in Roselawn, Parker was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame in 2014.
The bobbleheads are free with regular-price admission to the Reds Hall of Fame (or a Scotts Great American Ball Park tour) beginning August 4 and will be available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of August, while supplies last.
Only 6,000 bobbleheads have been produced and there is a limit of one bobblehead per visitor per day.
The bobblehead series continues through September with a different Reds Hall of Famer available each month:
• April: Leo Cardenas
