Heisey has minor setback with strained hamstring

CINCINNATI -- Reds left fielder Chris Heisey was supposed to begin a rehab assignment on Friday at Triple-A Louisville, but was still around Cincinnati's clubhouse. It turned out that Heisey had a minor setback with the strained right hamstring that has kept him on the disabled list since April 29.

"During batting practice [Wednesday], I did some sliding," Heisey said. "I told them I wanted to make sure I could slide pain free. I did some and didn't have any sharp pains or anything, but it was just a little soreness in there. After what happened last time, I've got to know that I am ready. I don't feel that quite yet."

Three weeks ago during the first inning of his first rehab game for Double-A Pensacola, Heisey had a setback trying to make a catch.

No new timetable exists for when Heisey might try playing some games again. He realizes that being cautious is best for him.

"I was sitting there on the off-day [Thursday] and I was unsure," Heisey said. "I want to be sure when I go that I'm going to be able to play the game and not worry too much about it. … I'll be back out there as soon as I can. It's frustrating, for sure. I've never been out near this long before."
