GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Rockies survived another Cactus League slugfest on Friday, prevailing on the road over the Reds, 7-6, at Goodyear Ballpark.
The Rockies got homers from two middle infielders -- a three-run shot by second baseman Pat Valaika in the second inning and a two-run jack by shortstop Cristhian Adames in the fifth.
Right-hander Raisel Iglesias started for the Reds and pitched three innings, allowing four hits and three runs, all on Valaika's three-run blast. Reliever Pedro Villarreal allowed Adames' homer.

"He wasn't quite as sharp," said Reds manager Bryan Price of Iglesias. "He threw a lot of pitches from that low sidearm slot. His stuff is so good. I thought the first inning was indicative. We brought the infield in with one out. He made good pitches. Got a soft grounder, a couple of punchouts in the inning to get out of a jam. That was good to see."
Brandon Phillips, who sat out the previous three games with a stiff neck, hit his first homer of the spring to lead off the second against Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa in his first at-bat of the game.
De La Rosa, who was named the Rockies' Opening Day starter after the game, worked six innings, allowing four runs on nine hits with two walks, three strikeouts and a wild pitch.
"I made some mistakes, but I was working on some things," De La Rosa said. "I figure I'll take all that stuff into the season and try to get better."
The switch-hitting Adames, 24, came to camp out of Minor League options and competing either for the starting shortstop or an infield utility role. While Rockies No.11 prospect Trevor Story has seemingly placed a stamp on the shortstop job, Adames has hit .286 to put himself in strong position for the roster.
"I wasn't nervous about it; I just played hard every time they gave me the opportunity," Adames said. "I'm just trying to see the ball and hit it hard, every time."
Tucker Barnhart went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Zack Cozart added two hits for the Reds. Ramon Cabrera and Bryson Smith hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth for Cincinnati.

Up next for the Rockies: Righty Chad Bettis will start Saturday against the Rangers at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick at 2:10 p.m. MT on MLB.TV. The Rockies also will give lefty Chris Rusin his first action of the spring. Rusin was scratched from his first scheduled appearance because of inflammation in his left middle finger.
Up next for the Reds: As camp winds down, the Reds play their last split-squad doubleheader on Saturday. They are at Camelback Ranch to play the White Sox in a 3:05 p.m. ET start with Brandon Finnegan on the mound on MLB.TV. The other game is at Goodyear Ballpark at 4:05 p.m. ET on Gameday Audio with Tim Melville projected to start against the Indians. Melville is not on the 40-man roster and is still trying to make the club with manager Bryan Price saying that rotation decisions are still pending.
