Prior to Sunday's game vs. the Orioles, the Red Sox will commemorate the one-year anniversary of last year's Boston Marathon tragedy.
The ceremony will take place around 6:30 p.m. ET, with the game scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. on ESPN. During the tribute, the Red Sox will acknowledge the support that Boston has received from across the country. The team will also salute the heroes who saved countless lives.
The University of Massachusetts marching band and Boston Pipers Society will perform a piece called "Highland Cathedral," as well as the national anthem. Members of the Boston Police Department, Watertown Police Department and Massachusetts State Police will carry the colors.
In addition to Sunday's tribute, the Red Sox will begin a new Patriots' Day tradition this year.
While the traditional 11:05 a.m. ET start time will continue, the Red Sox will wear jerseys with "Boston" appearing on the front -- just as they did in last year's Marathon tribute.
