Pedroia, Red Sox garner no aid from umpires' review
BOSTON -- Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia missed out on a home run in the eighth inning of Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Twins after a crew chief review determined the ruling on the field that the ball didn't clear the fence would stand.
Pedroia ripped a line drive to left field that clipped the top of the Green Monster and bounced back into play.
Pedroia slipped while running to second and was tagged out by Twins second baseman Brian Dozier. Xander Bogaerts, who was on first, made it to third safely, but David Ortiz flew out to left to end the inning.
Once Red Sox manager John Farrell asked the umpires to take a look at the play, the review took approximately one minute and 40 seconds.
