The Boston Red Sox today acquired minor league left-handed pitcher Josh Taylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks, completing the March 24 trade for infielder Deven Marrero.

The Boston Red Sox today acquired minor league left-handed pitcher Josh Taylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks, completing the March 24 trade for infielder Deven Marrero.

Taylor, 25, has been assigned to Double-A Portland. In 14 appearances-all in relief-for High-A Visalia this season, the left-hander went 1-2 with five saves, a 2.81 ERA (5 ER/16.0 IP), five walks, and 20 strikeouts. He has held left-handed hitters to a .125 batting average (2-for-16) with zero walks and extra-base hits, and in 13 of his 14 outings he recorded at least one strikeout. Signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a non-drafted free agent in August 2014, Taylor has appeared in 101 minor league games (62 starts) between the Phillies and Diamondbacks organizations, going 20-28 with a 4.55 ERA (194 ER/383.1 IP).
