Michael Chavis set a career high with three home runs on Wednesday, the biggest being a two-run shot that gave Class A Advanced Salem a walk-off victory over Wilmington for a second straight night.
Salem began the bottom of the ninth with a solo home run and put the tying run on base ahead of Chavis. The Red Sox's No. 10 prospect took the count full before connecting on his third homer of the night, a line-drive shot that cleared the wall in left-center field. He finished the game 3-for-4 with five RBIs, as Salem defeated the Blue Rocks, 7-6.

Chavis, 21, went 2-for-4 on Monday in his first game back from a stint on the seven-day disabled list. He hit his first homer of the season on Tuesday, setting the stage for his career night at the plate on Wednesday.
After coaxing a walk in his first plate appearance, Chavis delivered a two-run home run in his next trip to the plate that, at the time, extended Salem's lead to 3-0. He went deep again in the fifth, this time hitting a solo shot to left field, before capping the Red Sox's three-run comeback in the ninth. The lone out he made was a flyout to right field in the bottom of the seventh.

The multi-homer performance was the second of Chavis' career, the other coming on Aug. 15, 2015 as a member of Class A Greenville.

Selected by Boston in the first round of the 2014 Draft, Chavis is looking to get back on track this year after he batted .237/.313/.372 with eight homers in 81 games last season, much of which he spent with Greenville in the South Atlantic League. During his 2015 full-season debut, the right-handed hitting third baseman tallied 16 homers and 29 doubles, albeit with 144 strikeouts and a .223 average, in 109 games for Greenville.
