BOSTON -- Triston Casas, the most polished hitter in the Red Sox’s farm system, is making the jump to Triple-A Worcester, the club announced on Monday.

The left-handed-hitting first baseman is Boston’s No. 2 prospect and No. 18 overall, as rated by MLB Pipeline. He should make his debut for Worcester on Wednesday night in a 6:35 p.m. ET game against Rochester at Polar Park.

It has been an exciting summer for Casas, who earned a silver medal playing for Team USA in the Olympics.

"Triston Casas at first base was the biggest bat on our team and has the most upside, I think, of any player that we had. He’s going to get his opportunity in the big leagues for sure," Team USA manager Mike Scioscia recently told Baseball America.

The Red Sox took the big first baseman with the 26th overall pick in the 2018 Draft. In 275 at-bats for Double-A Portland this season, Casas slashed .284/.395/.484 with 13 homers and 52 RBIs.

Casas has patterned his hitting style after Joey Votto, the star first baseman of the Cincinnati Reds.

“Growing up, I loved watching Joey Votto. I love his approach. I love his swing. I love the way he approaches the game, and the way he takes his at-bats are second to none,” Casas told MLB.com last summer. “The stats speak for themselves. He’s one of the best hitters of the 2010s, and that’s when I was growing up watching baseball, and being a left-handed first baseman, Joey Votto’s not a bad guy to emulate."

The 21-year-old Casas, who is from Miami, has played in 199 Minor League games and has an .846 OPS.
