Fowler given day off to rest achy wrist

DENVER -- The Rockies did not start center fielder Dexter Fowler on Monday because of a sore left wrist -- an issue he has been playing through recently, and one he aggravated while diving for a ball during Sunday's 10-7 loss to the D-backs at Coors Field.

"The dive had a little something to do with it, but we were dealing with the situation a few days prior too," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "It affects him more [hitting] left-handed than it does right-handed as far as swinging.

"With Trevor Cahill pitching today, to ask him to go up there and take four or five at-bats, or at least three in the early part of the game from the left side of the plate, you're compromising the guy."
