Following His Acquisition, Rockies Designate Aaron Harang for Assignment

The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has acquired right-handed pitcher Aaron Harang and cash considerations from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for catcher Ramon Hernandez. Following his acquisition, the Rockies have designated Aaron Harang for assignment.

Harang, 34, is a veteran of 11 Major League seasons with four teams, including: Oakland (2002-03), Cincinnati (2003-2010), San Diego (2011) and the Dodgers (2012). In 299 career Major League games, 293 starts, Harang is 105-104 with a 4.19 ERA (1802.0 ip, 839 er), 550 walks and 1,460 strikeouts. The right-hander went 10-10 with a 3.61 ERA (179.2 ip, 72 er) in 31 starts for the Dodgers in 2012.

Hernandez, 36, hit .217 (40-for-184) with 10 doubles, 5 home runs and 28 RBI in 52 games with Colorado in 2012. The veteran is a career .264 (133-for-5057) Major League hitter with 260 doubles, 8 triples, 166 home runs and 751 RBI in 1,509 career games with Colorado (2012), Cincinnati (2009-2011), Baltimore (2006-08), San Diego (2004-05) and Oakland (1999-2003).

The Rockies have a full 40-man roster.
