Rockies Eric Young, Jr.'s "Stealing Some Smarts"

Second Reading This Saturday

Eric Young, Jr. has teamed up with the Denver Public Libraries and Volunteers of America to promote reading at all ages.

Eric will hold a book discussion on two elementary books which are aimed for third to fifth graders. The two books are "Jackie & Me" by Dan Gutman and "In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson" by Bette Bao Lord.

Beginning in April, Colorado Rockies Eric Young, Jr. began his "Stealing Some Smarts" program which will consist of book readings and/or discussions which will be held once-a-month for six months at various Denver libraries. "Stealing Some Smarts" are public literacy events encouraging young and old alike to read. Some readings will feature children's books, some young readers and also books for adults.

The second reading will be on Saturday, May 18th at noon until 1 p.m.
Woodbury Branch Library, 3265 Federal Blvd., Denver, CO 80211

Eric Young, Jr. is passionate about reading. He has done numerous literacy events in the past. By choosing different age groups and going to numerous libraries he hopes to introduce the joys of reading to hundreds over the course of this year's baseball season.
