Third baseman now tied for second-longest mark in Rockies history
DENVER -- Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado extended his hit streak in style Saturday, running it to 23 games -- tied for second-longest in club history -- with a fifth-inning grand slam off Mets starter Jenrry Mejia.
Arenado's slam came on the first pitch. The Rockies began the inning down 6-0, and Arenado's homer, his fifth of the season, gave the Rockies an 8-6 lead. It was the second career slam for Arenado, 23, who had his first nearly a year ago to the day, last May 4 against the Rays' David Price.
