PHOENIX -- Rockies players were excited to see David Dahl in the visiting clubhouse at Chase Field on Monday. Manager Bud Black was most excited about the All-Star outfielder’s rehab progress.

Dahl, who went on the injured list with a high right ankle sprain on Aug. 3, has been rehabbing at the team’s complex in Scottsdale, Ariz. He is continuing to strengthen his ankle while also running on an underwater treadmill and throwing, but he hasn’t done any other baseball activities.

After the three-game series against the D-backs, Dahl will begin traveling with the Rockies as they head to St. Louis, while continuing his rehab work.

“I think it’s good for David to be back, it’s good for our guys to see David progressing,” Black said. “I think that’s the main thing that’s important here, is that David’s progressing and David’s desire and will to get back to play.”

Dahl, who is batting .302/.353/.524 with 15 homers and 61 RBIs in 100 games this year, remains positive he’ll be back in the Rockies’ lineup this season, but he doesn’t have a timetable for when he could return.

“It’s just continuing to strengthen it, and once it’s ready to go, it’s ready to go,” Dahl said. “I’m way better now than I was three or four days ago. I’m very excited about it.”

Before Dahl returns, he believes he’ll need to get some at-bats. But he likely won’t go on a rehab assignment as the Minor League season will be over by the time Dahl progresses to that point.

“Hopefully, I can be back quick, catch on, get the timing back and come back and help this team,” Dahl said. “They’re having a lot of fun right now, so I’m excited to be here with them.”

Oberg to visit specialists

Rockies right-hander Scott Oberg will be out for the rest of the season after undergoing a procedure on Saturday to dissolve a blood clot in his right arm. That became official when Oberg was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Monday.

Later this week, Oberg will travel with the Rockies to St. Louis, where he will meet with some specialists.

“This is a tough one, for Scott and for us,” Black said. “But we’ve got to get to the bottom of this and get Scotty in a good frame of mind, mentally and health-wise.”

Rockies acquire reliever

The Rockies added to their bullpen depth on Monday, claiming right-hander Wes Parsons off waivers from the Braves. Parsons was added to the 40-man roster and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Parsons went 1-2 with a 3.52 ERA in 17 appearances for Atlanta this season. The 26-year-old right-hander has spent most of the second half at Triple-A, where he had a 2.86 ERA in 27 games for Gwinnett.

Spring Training schedule announced

The 2020 Spring Training schedule was announced by MLB on Monday. The Rockies will open Cactus League play against the D-backs at Salt River Fields on Feb. 22.

Colorado will play 33 exhibition games, including 16 home matchups at Salt River Fields. The schedule concludes with a pair of contests against the Mariners on March 23-24.

The Rockies will have one off-day after their spring finale before opening the 2020 season at San Diego on March 26.
