Rockies Place INF Nolan Arenado On 15-Day DL

ATLANTA - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has placed infielder Nolan Arenado on the 15-day disabled list with a left middle finger mallet fracture. In addition, the club has recalled infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Rutledge (#14) will be available for the Rockies against the Braves at Turner Field today (2:10 p.m. MDT).

Arenado, 23, has spent the entire year with Colorado and has hit .305 (58-for-190) with 17 doubles, 6 home runs, 28 RBI and 27 runs. This year was his first Opening Day anointment. His 23 extra-base hits are the most in the Majors by a third basemen, while his 17 doubles are tied for the most (Trevor Plouffe). Arenado set a franchise record earlier this season for his 28-game hitting streak from April 9-May 8. The Newport Beach, CA native became the first National League rookie third basemen to earn a Rawlings Golden Glove. In 182 Major League games, he has hit .278 (188-for-676) with 46 doubles, 4 triples, 16 home runs, 80 RBI and 76 runs.

Rutledge, 25, is making his second stint with Colorado where he has hit .318 (7-for-22) with a double, home run, 4 RBI and 3 runs in 11 games. This year with Triple-A Colorado Springs he is hitting .333 (18-for-54) with 3 doubles, a home run, 5 RBI and 7 runs in 15 games. Last season, he began the year on the Rockies Opening Day roster as the starting second baseman and spent the majority of the season in the Majors. In 172 career games with the Rockies, the Birmingham native has hit .257 (150-for-584) with 27 doubles, 6 triples, 16 home runs, 60 RBI and 85 runs.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
