Rockies recall infielder Pat Valaika from Triple-A Albuquerque

The Colorado Rockies announced Monday that they have recalled infielder Pat Valaika from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed infielder DJ LeMahieu on the 10-day disabled list with a left thumb sprain.

SAN DIEGO -- The Colorado Rockies announced Monday that they have recalled infielder Pat Valaika from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed infielder DJ LeMahieu on the 10-day disabled list with a left thumb sprain.
Valaika, 25, was a member of his first career Opening Day roster before being optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on May 8 … hit .103 (6-for-58) with two runs scored, three doubles, one RBI and five walks in 28 games with the Rockies prior to his option … started seven games at first base, four games at second base and one game at third base … in parts of three seasons with Colorado (2016-18), has hit .224 (58-for-259) with 33 runs scored, 15 doubles, 14 home runs, 43 RBI and 12 walks in 151 career games played … was originally selected by the Rockies in the ninth round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of UCLA.
LeMahieu, 29, is batting .279 (36-for-129) with 20 runs, eight doubles, five home runs, 13 RBI, 14 walks and three stolen bases across 32 games played … this will be his second stint of the season on the 10-day disabled list after spending time on the DL from April 30-May 8 with a strained right hamstring … had never been on the disabled list prior to this season … in parts of seven seasons with Colorado, the two-time All-Star has hit .302 (900-for-2981) with 428 runs scored, 137 doubles, 29 triples, 39 home runs, 296 RBI, 254 walks and 72 stolen bases in 822 games … in his career with Chicago-NL (2011) and Colorado (2012-18), LeMahieu has hit .301 (915-for-3041) with 431 runs, 139 doubles, 29 triples, 39 home runs, 300 RBI, 255 walks and 72 stolen bases across 859 career games.
The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
