Rockies recall RHP Rob Scahill from Triple-A Colorado Springs

Club options INF Cristhian Adames to the Minors

CHICAGO - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Rob Scahill from Triple-A Colorado Springs and optioned infielder Cristhian Adames. Scahill (#62) will be available tonight for the Rockies against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field (6:05 p.m. MT).

Scahill, 27, will be making his second stint this year on Colorado's roster. In his first stint from June 22-July 4, he made three appearances, all longer than 1.0 inning (5.1 ip, 3 h, 4 r-er). This season with Colorado Springs, Scahill has pitched in 30 games going 2-1 with a 4.09 ERA (44.0 ip, 20 er). In 32 career Major League games, all with Colorado, Scahill is 1-0 with a 4.56 ERA (47.1 ip, 24 er), 16 walks and 26 strikeouts. The Winfield, IL native was originally selected by Colorado in the 8th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of Bradley University.

Adames, 23, was recalled prior to yesterday's game and made his Major League debut when he entered the game in the bottom of the 10th inning as a defensive replacement. He ended up going 0-for-3 at the plate and recorded two put-outs and one assist in the field. Before his recall, Adames had split the season between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs and hit a combined .276 (96-for-348) with 12 doubles, 4 triples, 2 home runs, 40 RBI and 45 runs. Majority of the season was spent at Double-A where he hit .276 (87-for-315) with 9 doubles, 4 triples, 2 home runs and 37 RBI in 84 games. The native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic was originally signed by Colorado as a non-drafted free agent on September 13, 2007.

The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
