PHILADELPHIA -- The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Adam Ottavino from the 10-day disabled list and optioned left-handed pitcher Jerry Vasto to Triple-A.
Ottavino, 32, was placed on the disabled list on May 28, with a left oblique strain … is 3-0 with one save, a 0.95 ERA (28.1 IP, 3 ER), 10 walks and 45 strikeouts over 27 games this season… his 45 strikeouts rank tied for third among National League relievers, and his 45.5 strikeout percentage (45 of 99) ranks second in MLB … has recorded multiple strikeouts in 17 of his 27 appearances, including three strikeouts six times … across parts of eight Major League seasons with St. Louis (2010) and Colorado (2012-18), the Brooklyn, N.Y., native has gone 14-16 with 12 saves, a 3.74 ERA (363.2 IP, 151 ER), 148 walks and 397 strikeouts in 318 games, including three starts with the Cardinals in 2010.
Vasto, 26, made one appearance, his Major League debut, on June 10 against Arizona after having his contract selected from Triple-A Albuquerque that day … in 19 relief appearances with Albuquerque is 2-0 with three saves, a 1.71 ERA (21.0 IP, 4 ER), eight walks and 26 strikeouts … in 161 career Minor League appearances, has gone 11-11 with a 3.70 ERA (189.2 IP, 78 ER), 74 walks and 227 strikeouts … was originally selected in the 24th round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Felician College.
The Rockies currently have a full 40-man roster.
