Rockies reinstate RHP Edgmer Escalona from 15-day DL

 

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has reinstated right-handed pitcher Edgmer Escalona from the 15-day disabled list (Olecranon Bursa inflammation in right elbow). Escalona will be in uniform and available for today’s Rockies vs. Padres game at Coors Field (1:10 p.m. MDT).

Escalona, 25, missed 21 games while on the DL with the inflammation in his right elbow. The right-hander made two relief appearances on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs and allowed zero earned runs with one walk and 2 strikeouts in 1.2 innings. Escalona has made nine relief appearances in the Major Leagues with Colorado this season, going 0-1 with an 11.88 ERA (8.1 ip, 11 er). He has spent the remainder of the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs, going 3-3 with a 2.93 ERA (40.0 ip, 13 er), 17 walks and 40 strikeouts in 32 games. The Venezuela native has pitched in the Major Leagues with Colorado in each of the last three seasons, since 2010, and has a career mark of 0-1 with a 3.83 ERA (40.0 ip, 17 er), 15 walks and 24 strikeouts in 28 games.

The Rockies have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
