Rockies select RHP Tommy Kahnle with 8th selection in Major League phase of Rule 5 Draft

Kahnle is a Right-handed Reliever from the New York Yankees Organization

ORLANDO - The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has selected RHP Tommy Kahnle with the eighth selection in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft.

Kahnle, 24, spent the 2013 season at Trenton in the Double-A Eastern League in the New York Yankees organization. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Kahnle went 1-3 with 15 saves, a 2.85 ERA (60.0 ip, 19 er), 45 walks and 74 strikeouts in 46 games for Trenton last season. Opponents hit just .182 against Kahnle in 2013. He was ranked the Yankees 20th-best prospect by MLB.com entering the 2013 season. The native of Latham, NY was originally selected by the Yankees in the fifth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Lynn University. Kahnle has struck out a total of 260 batters in 198.0 innings pitched (11.82 SO/90 IP) over his three full Minor League seasons, since 2011.

The Rockies have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
