Rox unsure how much time LeMahieu will miss

Second baseman on disabled list with left thumb injury

SAN DIEGO -- The tune hasn't changed with DJ LeMahieu's left thumb.
"It's sore, it's swollen and it's painful,'' manager Bud Black said on Tuesday before the Rockies' game against the Padres at Petco Park.
LeMahieu landed on the 10-day disabled list on Monday. Less than 24 hours later, the Rockies still aren't sure how much time he might miss.
"We are all trying to remain optimistic, but we will see what a couple more scans say today,'' Black said. "We'll know more in a couple of days when all the reports are back and have the doctors consult each other.''
LeMahieu, a two-time All-Star, tweaked his thumb while batting in Sunday's loss to the Brewers. He's hitting .279 with five home runs and 13 RBIs.
"If it is a mild or a low-degree sprain, that's great and we are in good shape, and he could be back when his time is up,'' Black said. "But if it is more significant or there is a bone involved, that is where it is more concerning. We know the ligaments are involved, but we are trying to rule out if there is any fracture or break.''
