Dodgers recall LHP Alex Vesia

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled left-handed pitcher Alex Vesia from the alternate site and have optioned infielder/outfielder Matt Beaty.

Vesia, 25, was acquired along with Kyle Hurt from the Miami Marlins on February 12, 2021 in exchange for Dylan Floro. His next appearance will be his Dodger debut after appearing in five games for the Marlins in 2020 and allowing nine runs in 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. In 52 career minor league games, he has posted a 1.62 ERA (18 ER/100.0IP) and 138 strikeouts. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the 17th round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of Cal State East Bay.

Beaty, 27, appeared in 10 games this season for the Dodgers, recording two walks and one hit in 11 at-bats. In three seasons with the Dodgers, he has hit .252 (78-for-310) with 20 doubles, 11 homers and 51 RBI. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 12th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Belmont University.
