KANSAS CITY, MO (April 5, 2013) - The Kansas City Royals announced today a partnership extension with Hy-Vee, continuing as the official grocer of the Kansas City Royals through 2016.

"We are pleased to have Hy-Vee as part of the Royals family for the next several years," said Michael Bucek, Vice President-Marketing & Business Development.  "Hy-Vee believes in the future of the Royals and what the Royals mean to our community.  They have made it clear that they want to carry our partnership forward for many years ahead."

As part of the extension, Hy-Vee and the Royals will be adding the Hy-Vee Cool Zone at Gate B which will include live entertainment and cooling stations throughout the season.

Hy-Vee will also remain as the exclusive sponsor of the Hy-Vee Level at Kauffman Stadium and will continue the popular Royals Summer Fireworks promotions.  In addition, Hy-Vee will continue to sell Royals tickets at locations around the Kansas City metro, as well as in Lawrence, Manhattan and Topeka, Kan., and St. Joseph, Mo.

"We couldn't be more excited about our partnership renewal with the Royals," said Rob Eslick, Hy-Vee Assistant Vice President, West Central Region.  "Over the past 13 years our relationship has grown far beyond just a sponsorship as we share and support similar visions for the team and the Kansas City community."

Hy-Vee will continue to partner with the Royals and Royals Charities in support of a number of community and charitable outreach efforts throughout the year, including the Royals 5K Run.
