Spring slate has sprung: KC reveals schedule

Play opens against complex mates Rangers on Feb. 27 in Surprise, Ariz.

The Royals unveiled their 2014 Spring Training schedule, which includes a Feb. 27 opener against the Rangers, their Surprise, Ariz., complex companions.

The 30-game schedule includes 14 home games at Surprise Stadium, and one game there as the visiting team against the Rangers (the second game of the spring).

All home games from Feb. 27 to March 7 will begin at 2:05 p.m. CT until Daylight Saving Time on March 9, when games will then begin at 3:05 p.m.

Kansas City will also host 8:05 p.m. CT games on March 17 against the Rangers, March 19 against the Reds and March 25 against the Mariners. The Royals' final exhibition games will be in Milwaukee against the Brewers on March 28 (7:10 p.m.) and March 29 (1:10 p.m.). The regular season will open in Detroit on March 31.

The Surprise Recreation Campus will take mail orders and season-ticket orders beginning Dec. 2. Fans can call (623) 222-2222 or go online to royals.com/springtraining for a ticket brochure. Individual Spring Training tickets go on sale Dec. 9 on royals.com or by calling (800) 745-3000. The Surprise Recreation Campus box office will open at 7 a.m. MT on Jan. 4 for walkup purchases.

Pitchers and catchers will report Feb. 14, with workouts beginning the following day. The remainder of the team will report Feb. 19 with full team workouts beginning on Feb. 20.
