The Kansas City Royals Grounds Crew, together with Royals Charities and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund, will host a field maintenance clinic, Grow with the Pros, at Kauffman Stadium tomorrow, May 8, from 9 a.m. to noon.  
Participants for the invitation-only event will have the opportunity to step onto the field at Kauffman Stadium to learn proper field care tips from members of the Royals Ground Crew. Senior Director of Groundskeeping, Trevor Vance, and his crew will cover topics including field maintenance, mound and home plate management, repairing problem areas and game day preparation. The special guest speaker will be Bill Severns, a former professional baseball player and motivational speaker with a powerful message about the impact of baseball on kids and the role of parents in their kids' development. Severns has authored multiple books including his most recent, Keepers of the Sandlot.
Two previously-selected schools, St. Michael Archangel Catholic High School and Leavenworth City Parks and Recreation, where Leavenworth High School plays, will each receive $5,000 grants from Royals Charities and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund for field renovations for the softball and baseball programs.
