Royals option Paredes to make room for Brooks

TORONTO -- With Aaron Brooks arriving to pitch for the Royals against the Blue Jays on Saturday, somebody had to go and it was infielder-outfielder Jimmy Paredes.

The Royals returned Paredes to Triple-A Omaha just eight days after he was recalled for the second time this season.

In his two brief stays with Kansas City, Paredes appeared in nine games and went 2-for-10 at the plate. He made two starts at third base, but with Danny Valencia returning from an injury, he became expendable.

Paredes has a .327 average, nine extra-base hits and 17 RBIs in 26 games with Omaha.
