Jorge Bonifacio named to AFL's Fall Stars roster

KANSAS CITY -- Outfielder Jorge Bonifacio will represent the Royals in the Arizona Fall League's eighth annual Fall Stars Game on Saturday night at Surprise, Ariz.

Bonifacio has a .257 (9-for-35) average in 10 games for the Peoria Javelinas. He'll play for the West Division team.

Ranked as the Royals' No. 5 prospect by MLB.com, Bonifacio hit .298 this summer in 86 games for three different teams, including Double-A Northwest Arkansas. He had a total of 30 extra-base hits and 54 RBIs. His brother, Emilio, finished the season as Kansas City's second baseman.

Jorge Bonifacio is among 21 of MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects in the Fall Stars Game. He's ranked No. 89.

In other Winter League action, reliever Kelvin Herrera made his Dominican League debut for Escogido with 1 2/3 scoreless innings and four strikeouts. Outfielder Paulo Orlando has a .327 (17-for-52) mark and two homers in 13 games for Cardenales de Lara in Venezuela.
