The Kansas City Royals will help serve a holiday meal to guests of the Guadalupe Centers at its Thanksgiving luncheon tomorrow, November 20. Once again, Royals pitcher Ian Kennedy, Sluggerrr and several front office associates will be volunteering. Kennedy volunteered last week at the City Union Mission men's shelter.
The Thanksgiving luncheon is set for noon and will be held at the Elementary School on the Villa Guadalupe Campus, located at 5123 E. Truman Rd., Kansas City, Mo. 64127. The Guadalupe Centers catering staff and many volunteers will serve 2,000 Thanksgiving meals to students, parents, senior adults and social services clients. This event is made possible by food donations from US Foods and the help of many volunteers. The Royals have volunteered to serve meals at the Guadalupe Center or its school buildings since 2007.
The Guadalupe Centers began in 1919 and is the longest continually-operating organization serving Latinos in the United States.   It strives to improve the quality of life for individuals in the Latino communities of the Kansas City area by providing educational programs, facilitating access to health and social services, promoting and providing Latino cultural enrichment events, and sponsoring social activities.
