Royals partner with Operation BBQ Relief

Jack Stack & Brancato’s will cook for first responders

KANSAS CITY, MO. (May 21, 2020) -- Royals Charities, through the Royals Respond Fund, will partner next Tuesday, May 26, with Operation BBQ Relief, Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbeque and Brancato’s Catering to distribute food to first responders in Kansas City, MO, and Kansas City, KS. Some 1,250 first responders from the KCMO police and fire departments and 1,250 first responders from the KCK police and fire departments will receive the food as a thank you for their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also, an Operation BBQ Relief tent and hot shot truck will be set up in Lot A at the Truman Sports Complex to serve KCMO first responders stationed close to the stadium. This drive through pick up will take place on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Royals Charities created the Royals Respond Fund to support Kansas City-area nonprofits who care for those affected by COVID-19. Together with Royals players, the team’s ownership group, associates and Royals Charities Community Champions Price Chopper and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, the fund is helping the effort to fight hunger and has expanded to other areas of need.

Previous beneficiaries of the Royals Respond Fund include Harvesters-The Community Food Network, the Don Bosco Center’s Meals on Wheels program, Cross-Lines Community Outreach, Inc., HappyBottoms-Diaper Bank, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City, Emmanuel Family & Child Development Center and the Guadalupe Centers.
