June 7, 2007: Doo in the Draft

The Athletics selected Doolittle, a two-way player, out of the University of Virginia as a position player with the 41st overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft.

June 5, 2012: A big league debut

Following injuries, Doolittle transitioned to a full-time pitching role out of the A’s bullpen. He recorded 3 strikeouts in his debut without allowing a hit or a run in 1 1/3 innings vs. the Rangers.

June 22, 2014: Back in the batter’s box

In the midst of earning his 1st All-Star selection as the A's closer, Doolittle took his 1st big league at-bat when he pinch-hit in the 10th inning vs. the Red Sox.

July 16, 2017: Welcome to D.C.

The Nationals acquired Doolittle and Ryan Madson from the A’s in exchange for Jesús Luzardo, Sheldon Neuse and Blake Treinen.

June 30, 2019: Triple-digit milestone

Doolittle recorded his 100th career save vs. the Tigers, during the season in which he led the NL in games finished.

Oct. 11, 2019: Postseason prowess

Following Aníbal Sánchez’s 7 2/3-inning start, Doolittle recorded a 4-out save to clinch Game 1 of the NLCS against the Cardinals.

Oct. 22, 2019: World Series save

Doolittle needed only 14 pitches to retire four batters in 1 1/3 innings and lock down a Game 1 victory vs. the Astros.

May 25, 2021: Welcome back

After signing with the Reds as a free agent, Doolittle was honored by the Nats and their fans during an emotional pregame ceremony in his first return to Nationals Park.

March 16, 2022: Let’s Doo it again

Doolittle re-signed with the Nationals during Spring Training for his second stint with the team. During the season, he brought back his tradition of riding the bullpen cart to the mound.

Dec. 21, 2022: A community honor

A recipient of the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award and D.C. Media “Good Guy” Award, Doolittle and his wife, Eireann Dolan, were named among the 2022 Washingtonians of the Year by the Washingtonian.
