CLEVELAND -- Miguel Cabrera added another milestone to his impressive resume, recoding his 2,500th career hit with a third-inning single in the Tigers' 9-5 win against the Indians on Sunday at Progressive Field.
Cabrera became the 100th player in Major League history to reach the milestone, and just the eighth to do so by his age-33 season, joining Hank Aaron, Ty Cobb, Jimmie Foxx, Rogers Hornsby, Mel Ott, Alex Rodriguez and Robin Yount. According to Elias Sports Bureau, he's the youngest to reach 2,500 hits since Aaron did it in 1967.
"I feel good," Cabrera said of the honor. "But like I always say, I need to keep going and try to do my job every day."
Cabrera came up to bat in the third, after taking a Trevor Bauer fastball off his left hand his first time up in the opening inning. He recovered to lace a line drive into right field, loading the bases with nobody out in a three-run inning that earned the Tigers their first runs since the sixth inning of Friday's series opener.

Cabrera could be seen shaking his hand most of the game, and said afterward that it was sore. However, he expects to be fine with an off-day Monday ahead of Tuesday's series opener at Minnesota.
"I've said it before, he's one of the best hitters to ever walk the planet," manager Brad Ausmus said.
