Tigers Acquire Nolan Blackwood from the Oakland Athletics

DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers announced today they have acquired righthanded pitcher Nolan Blackwood from the Oakland Athletics as one-of-two players to be named later to complete the trade for righthanded pitcher Mike Fiers.

DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers announced today they have acquired righthanded pitcher Nolan Blackwood from the Oakland Athletics as one-of-two players to be named later to complete the trade for righthanded pitcher Mike Fiers.
Blackwood, 23, is ranked as the 30th-best prospect in the Athletics organization according to MLB Pipeline. The 6-5, 185 lbs., righthander has posted a 6-3 record with a 4.08 ERA (53.0IP/24ER), 48 strikeouts, a 1.43 WHIP and a .280 opponent batting average in 39 relief appearances with Double A Midland. Blackwood earned Texas League midseason All-Star honors earlier this season.
Originally signed by the Athletics in the 14th round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Blackwood has a 9-10 record with a 3.56 ERA (136.1IP/54ER), 121 strikeouts, a 1.24 WHIP and a .248 opponent batting average in 101 career Minor League appearances.
