Mobile-only ticketing coming to Comerica Park

January 23rd, 2019

DETROIT -- Fans attending Tigers games at Comerica Park in 2019 will show their ticket at the gate with a simple scan of their phone. The team announced on Wednesday it will use mobile ticketing as the primary method of entry for all events at the ballpark.
The team will begin mobile-only ticketing on Saturday with TigerFest. Tickets are still available for the event at $30 for adults or $15 for kids at tigers.com/tigerfest.
Fans can enter the park using the MLB Ballpark app, which allows fans to use their mobile device as a game ticket, producing an on-screen barcode that can be scanned at the gate. The digital technology reduces the risk of fraudulent or counterfeit tickets, allows for convenient online transfer and resale of tickets and provides a way for fans to manage their tickets online.
Similarly, fans can also use the StubHub app to produce an electronic ticket.
As a result of the shift, PDF tickets will no longer be accepted at Tigers games at Comerica Park, whether they're printed or copied onto a mobile device. Fans who don't have a smartphone or other device to use for mobile entry can visit the Comerica Park box office to have tickets printed for them on the day of the game. Group tickets will continue to be printed by the club.
Mobile ticketing has been tested across MLB and other sports leagues, including locally at Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena in The District Detroit, according to Chris Granger, group president of sports and entertainment at Ilitch Holdings, Inc.
"About half the teams across Major League Baseball will begin mobile-only ticketing during the 2019 season, while over 30 NHL and NBA teams have already made the move," Granger said in a statement. "The industry-wide trend has wide-reaching benefits to fans, including significantly increased convenience and flexibility when it comes to purchasing or transferring tickets to another individual, and adds a uniformed layer of security that ensures your ticket is not fraudulent or counterfeit."
More information is available at tigers.com/mobiletickets, including step-by-step instructions on how to set up an account on the Ballpark app. Fans who have already purchased full or partial season-ticket packages for the upcoming season are encouraged to reach out to their dedicated ticket representatives with any questions.
