Cespedes out early with flu-like symptoms
Fields enters in left field as replacement, making Major League debut
DETROIT -- The Tigers offense hasn't looked well for the last week. A stomach bug afflicting cleanup hitter Yoenis Cespedes on Thursday didn't help.
The bug doesn't appear to be serious enough to keep Cespedes out any longer, but it forced him out of Detroit's series-closing 7-5 loss to Oakland with what the team classified as flu-like symptoms.
At first, Cespedes' exit looked like something worse. He had just fouled a ball off his foot in the second inning before striking out swinging at a Jesse Hahn changeup, then walked back to the clubhouse. But the illness was more painful than the foot.
Cespedes told MLB.com's Alejandro Zúñiga after the game that he felt ill in the first inning.

"I threw up and I felt a little lightheaded, but I'm good now," Cespedes said.
Cespedes entered the day batting .286 with seven home runs and 28 RBIs. Daniel Fields made his Major League debut to fill in and committed an error on a ground-ball single a couple of innings later before doubling and scoring in the ninth.
