Tigers announce 2020 Spring Training schedule

84th Season at World Class TigerTown features visits from Astros, Braves, Mets, Red Sox, Yankees

The Detroit Tigers today announced the club’s Grapefruit League game schedule for 2020 Spring Training in Lakeland, Florida. Spring of 2020 will mark the Tigers 84th season at TigerTown in Lakeland, extending the longest-standing relationship between a Major League team and a current Spring Training host city. The 2020 spring season will be the club’s 55th consecutive season of playing at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The Tigers will open the exhibition schedule on Friday, February 21 as the club plays host to Southeastern University. The Tigers open the home portion of the Grapefruit League schedule against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, February 22.

The home schedule features three visits from the New York Yankees (Sunday, March 1, Thursday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 17) and two visits each from the Philadelphia Phillies (Saturday, February 22 and Friday, March 6) and Toronto Blue Jays (Friday, February 28 and Sunday, March 15). Additionally, the Minnesota Twins will make their first visit to Lakeland since 2012 on Saturday, March 7.

The Houston Astros (February 24), New York Mets (February 25), Boston Red Sox (March 2), Atlanta Braves (March 12), Washington Nationals (March 14) and Miami Marlins (March 19) will each visit Publix Field for one game. The 2020 Spring Training schedule is subject to change and game times will be announced at a later date.
