In recent weeks, record-setting hurricanes have hit Texas, Florida, the Gulf Coast, and the Caribbean Islands, leaving mass destruction and flooding in their wakes. Thousands of people have been displaced by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Many communities are without power, transportation, and other resources. It will take all of our support to help these regions - places that many members of the Twins family call home - rebuild.
Almost $50,000 has been raised by Twins fans, players and fundraisers for Hurricane Harvey victims. Now our fans in Southwest Florida also need our help.
The Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins are partnering to contribute $200,000 to Hurricane Irma relief efforts in both teams' Spring Training homes in Southwest Florida. Funds will be donated to the Southwest Florida Community Foundation and will go directly to organizations providing relief efforts in the area. The Red Sox, the Twins and their players are asking fans to join us in helping with hurricane relief efforts by making a donation:
In the coming months, both teams will investigate how we can further assist and volunteer in our Southwest Florida community.
The Twins will work in conjunction with La Coalición de Boricuas en Minnesota to assist in relief for victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Throughout this coming weekend, members of the Twins Wives Organization will accept non-perishable food items, bottled water, and cash donations at Target Field outside gates 6, 29 and 34.
