Walker, Harrison lead the way for Fort Myers

Led by Adam Brett Walker and Travis Harrison, the Twins' Nos. 13 and 16 prospects, respectively, Class A Advanced Fort Myers defeated Daytona, 5-1, on Thursday in Game 1 of the Florida State League championship series.

Walker, serving as the designated hitter, went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Left fielder Harrison contributed two doubles, a walk and an RBI.

After Daytona cut Fort Myers' lead to one run in the top of the sixth, Walker and Harrison quickly answered by driving in three runs over the next two innings to put away the game.

Walker led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run to left-center, and five batters later, Harrison hit a two-out RBI double. Walker added one more insurance run in the seventh with an RBI double of his own.

Walker hit .246/.307/.436 and led the league with 25 home runs during the regular season. Harrison hit .269/.361/.365 with three home runs.

The best-of-five series continues on Friday at Fort Myers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Daytona is attempting to repeat as Florida State League champions; Fort Myers is playing in its first finals since 2006, when it lost to Daytona.
