Relievers Pressly, Burton remain day to day

MINNEAPOLIS -- Reliever Ryan Pressly, who left the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals due to injury, threw a bullpen session on Tuesday and said everything felt fine.

Pressly exited in the sixth inning after feeling discomfort in his right biceps. But Pressly said when he was tested by team trainers on Monday, the soreness was actually in the back of his shoulder and not in his biceps.

He said the soreness subsided on Tuesday and that everything went as planned in a 15-20 pitch bullpen session.

"Everything felt fine -- no pain, no problems," Pressly said. "I'm assuming I'll be up tomorrow, because they'll give me one more day probably. But everything felt fine with no problems. So right now, I need to kick my butt and get back to my shoulder program. I was slacking too much on that."

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire confirmed that Pressly was unavailable for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, but should be ready to return on Wednesday.

"He threw today and felt really good, so I'd say he's not available today but he did throw a nice bullpen session," Gardenhire said. "He'll probably be available tomorrow."

Reliever Jared Burton was also unavailable for Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Phillies after injuring his groin in Saturday's game in Washington. But his is considered a minor injury, and he should be ready to return soon.

"Burton is still a little sore," Gardenhire said. "It's a day to day thing."
